We are keen to strengthen scholarly cooperation with Mauritania—Grand Imam
Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, received Ambassador Sidi Mohamed Abdullah, Ambassador of Mauritania in Cairo, to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation in scholarly and missionary fields. The Grand Imam pointed out that Al-Azhar is keen on boosting cooperation with academic and missionary institutions in Mauritania, and implementing the agreements between Al-Azhar and religious and educational institutions in Mauritania conducted during his visit to Mauritania in 2018. HE also noted Al-Azhar's readiness to increase the number of scholarships allocated to Mauritanian students to study at Al-Azhar University.
On his part, the Mauritanian Ambassador congratulated the Grand Imam on the occasion of the Prophet's birthday anniversary, expressing his country's great appreciation for Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif and its Grand Imam and for Al-Azhar’s moderate approach which presents the correct image of Islam and its moderate approach and rightfully combat anti-Islamic campaigns. He affirmed his country's keenness to strengthen cooperation with Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif and increase the number of scholarships allocated to Mauritanian students to study at Al-Azhar University.
