The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar receives Algerian Ambassador at Al-Azhar headquarters
Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif received, on Monday at the headquarters of Al-Azhar, Ambassador Hamid Chabeira, Ambassador of Algeria to Cairo and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States. The Grand Imam pointed out that the relations between Al-Azhar and the Republic of Algeria are historically characterized by their depth and strength in scholarly and missionary fields as evident from the assumption of the former Grand Imam, Muhammad El Khader Hussein, who was of Algerian origin, Al-Azhar top position in the fifties of the last century, in addition to the graduation of hundreds of Algerian intellectuals from Al-Azhar University and the admission of many young citizens of this brotherly country to be educated in the auditoriums of Al-Azhar Mosque and its ancient institutes and university.
On his part, the Algerian Ambassador expressed his country's deep appreciation for the role Al-Azhar plays in promoting the true religion and confronting extremist groups and the mistaken ideas they propagate. He also expressed his gratitude to the Grand Imam Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif for his efforts in consolidating the values of brotherhood, peace and dialogue all over the world.
