The head of Iraq's National Wisdom Movement (NWM) renews Iraq's invitation to the Grand Imam to visit Iraq and confirms that Iraqi people, with all their sects, love and await His Eminence's visit, for the value and Islamic stature he represents.

 

Al-Azhar is a beacon of moderation and centrism, and its role in championing Muslim issues is well-known— that is how we’ve always known it. 

 

His Eminence the Grand Imam said that unity is the only path towards the renaissance of our Arab and Islamic nations. Therefore, we have moved to hold the Inra-Islamic Dialogue Conference in Bahrain to unify the vision of Muslim scholars. He stressed that the current situation is difficult and represents a major challenge, and that Arabs and Muslims have a feeling of bitterness because of what has been happening in Gaza for more than sixteen months. He stressed that the only solution is to unite Muslims and added that the time is no longer appropriate for division and discord, stating: “What is most astonishing is that we are divided despite having no real cause for division, while others are united even though they share nothing that truly binds them. We must be eager to achieve our unity, as our nation has commonalities that we can build upon to unify our word and ranks. We pray to Allah to make our countries safe and secure.”

 

During his reception of Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, head of the Iraqi NWM, His Eminence emphasized the depth of relations between Al-Azhar and Iraq. He noted that these visits bring great benefits and reflect the efforts being made at conferences, the most recent of which was the Intra-Islamic Dialogue conference, which included discussions on and calls for the unity of the nation. He emphasized that the goal of all these initiatives is to impact the lives of Muslims and consolidate the values of Islamic brotherhood.

 

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim said: “We express our gratitude for and pride in Al-Azhar’s stance towards the Palestinian cause. We follow Your Eminence’s statements on an ongoing basis, and we see Al-Azhar as a beacon of moderation; its role in supporting Muslim causes is well-known. This is how we have always known it. Iraq, with its government and religious authorities, has had a unified position on the Palestinian ordeal since its beginning seventy years ago until today. We appreciate Egypt’s clear and heroic stance in rejecting displacement. We also appreciate the great Arab and Islamic solidarity.”

 

Ammar Al-Hakim briefed the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar on the latest developments in Iraq, stressing that Iraq is moving steadily and quickly towards stability and progress. He stated, “Thank to Allah, we are witnessing continued recovery and stability across all fronts, especially those related to politics and security. Iraq has transformed into a reconstruction workshop, and we are racing against time to ensure that Iraq occupies its proper place and position. The Iraqi people, with all their sects, await your Eminence's visit, for the value and Islamic stature you represent. The Iraqi people love you and follow your courageous stances.”
