Al-Azhar Grand Imam mourns former Minister of Higher Education Dr. Mufid Shehab

Accepting Allah's will, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, mourns the passing of Dr. Mufid Shehab, former Minister of Higher Education, former President of Cairo University, and Professor of International Law, who passed away after a distinguished academic career dedicated to serving his country.

The Grand Imam notes that the late Dr. Shehab was a leading figure in international law in Egypt and the world. He played a prominent role in defending and reclaiming Taba through international arbitration. He was also an exemplary dedicated scholar, a distinguished professor, and a wise administrator, in addition to his contributions to the development of university education and his unwavering commitment to his mission in the various positions he held.
His Eminence the Grand Imam extends his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family of the deceased, his students, and his loved ones, asking Allah Almighty to have mercy on him, to reward him for his service to his country, and to grant his family and relatives patience and solace. “To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
