The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar: What humanity suffers from most today is the spread of the human hostility virus due to the exclusion of religious values and morals.
Head of the Evangelical community in Egypt: The Grand Imam is an exceptional figure who has contributed to consolidating the values of diversity, pluralism, and coexistence.
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb received Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki, Head of the Evangelical Community in Egypt, and a high-level delegation of the Community leaders, to congratulate His Eminence on the approaching Eid al-Adha.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Zaki and his accompanying delegation congratulated the Grand Imam, and Muslims in Egypt and the world, on the approaching Eid al-Adha. He prayed to Allah Almighty that these blessed occasions will return to our dear Egypt, Muslims and Christians, with goodness, security, peace and stability.
Dr. Zaki said: “We cherish the good fraternal relations that unite us with His Eminence— this exceptional, national and humanitarian figure who has had a great and tangible role in consolidating the values of diversity, pluralism and coexistence.” He stressed that His Eminence’s efforts in promoting human fraternity and world peace are widely appreciated and respected at the international, regional and local levels.
He added: “The Human Fraternity Document, which Your Eminence signed with the late Pope Francis, represents a milestone in the history of human relations based on pluralism and acceptance of others. It is the pinnacle of expressing common human values and a champion of the vulnerable and marginalized. We hope that it will be activated and utilized to serve the most needy groups around the world.”
The Grand Imam expressed his happiness with this gracious visit, which renews the bonds of love and brotherhood. He stressed that such meetings reflect the depth of the relationship that unites the sons of the same nation, Muslims and Christians, and consolidate the values of coexistence and mutual understanding.
His Eminence pointed out that one of the greatest concerns of modern man is shunning religious values and attempting to exclude them from people's lives, in addition to the spread of human hostility and aggressive displays of power. He emphasized that the paramount responsibility lies in working to convince the world’s decision-makers that it is necessary to return to the teachings and ethics of religion, which call for mercy and peace, reject killing, wars, conflicts, and chaos, support the oppressed, and strive to stop conflicts that threaten the fate of humanity.
