The Grand Imam congratulates Dr. Awad Tag El-Din, Dr. Ahmed Okasha, and all those honored with the Egyptian Medical Association Shield during the African Medical Conference.

His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb warmly congratulated the following distinguished figures upon their honoring with the Egyptian Medical Association Shield during the fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon 2026, held under the theme “Africa Health 2026”: Prof.  Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President for Medical and Preventive Affairs and former Minister of Health; Prof. Gamal Abu El-Serour, Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Embryology, and Head of Al Azhar University’s International Islamic Center for Population Studies and Research (IICPSR); Maj. Gen. Prof. Mohamed Reda Awad, Professor of Physical Medicine, Rheumatology, and Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine (Al-Azhar University and the Military Academy); Prof. Ahmed Okasha, Professor of Psychiatry and Advisor to the President for Mental Health; Prof. Ashraf Hatem, Head of the Committee for Medical Education Development in Egypt and former Minister of Health; Prof. Hussein Khaled, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Beni Suef National University and former Minister of Higher Education; and Maj. Gen. Dr. Bahaa Zidan, former Head of the Unified Procurement Authority.

 This honor was bestowed in the presence of Prof. Adel Adawy—former Minister of Health and President of the Egyptian Scientific Association and the Africa Conference—alongside deans of public, national, and private medical schools. This recognition acknowledges their pioneering and impactful scientific, professional, and humanitarian contributions they have made—and continue to make— to the medical sector, which have played a significant role in advancing healthcare services.

The Grand Imam commends the scholarly and humanitarian contributions made by all the honorees over many years—contributions that have served patients, advanced scientific research, and fostered generations of physicians and researchers. He emphasizes that this recognition reflects the esteemed status held by physicians from Al-Azhar and Egypt, as well as their recognized professional competence and expertise, which have earned them respect in regional and international medical circles and made them a source of pride for Egypt and its scientific and medical institutions. He wishes them continued success and further achievements in serving both the nation and humanity.
