In the celebration of Laylat Ul-Qadr on Ramdan 27, which was organized by the Ministry of Endowments to honor memorizers of the Holy Qur’an from Egypt and various other countries, the Grand Imam presented President El-Sisi with the second volume of Al-Azhar Magazine, which is the most important scientific and cultural event in 2024.

The second volume of Al-Azhar magazine comprises 106 issues, with a total of 100,328 pages, from the year 1349 AH to 1423 AH / 1930 AD to 2002 AD, and it was printed according to the highest standards of printing.

Al-Azhar Magazine is one of the cultural channels that express Egypt’s status and leadership in spreading the religion, its teachings, and morals throughout the world. It is true evidence of what the Muslims in the world bear towards Egypt, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and its great scholars.

Since its inception, the magazine has contributed to shaping the awareness of society, by publishing the writings of the great scholars, writers, and thinkers in Egypt and the Arab and Islamic world. In addition, it introduces innovative insight into interpreting the Holy Qur’an, explaining the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh), narrating the events of Islamic history, explaining the lessons learned from it, and responding to thorny fatwas and questions. The magazine is also keen on linguistic and literary studies that promote in its readers adherence to our Arabic language and the preservation of our Arab identity. Moreover, it contributes to empirical sciences, in keeping with the traditions of major Muslim scholars in this field, such as Ibn al-Haytham, Ibn Hayyan, and others.

For more than a century Al-Azhar Magazine has sought to disseminate the teachings of religion, clarify its purposes, correct its concepts, spread the spirit of brotherhood and good morals, consolidate relations among societies and peoples, and establish the foundations of religious and social reform. The magazine is considered a window through which Al-Azhar addresses whatever arises in society of foreign ideas, destructive visions, and adopted theories.

A number of figures who are known for their scientific competence and social influence assumed the editoral duties of the magazine, including Muhammad Farid Wajdi, Ahmad Hassan Al-Zayat, Prof. Muhammad Rajab Al-Bayoumi, and Dr. Muhammad Amara, and finally Prof. Nazir Ayyad, Secretary General of the Islamic Research Academy.

The magazine was first published in Muharram 1349 AH / 1931 AD, under the name “Nour Al-Islam", then its name was soon changed to the name “Al-Azhar Magazine,” which has remained stable to this day. Since the first issue, it came out every month bearing rich intellectual meal in a manner that makes it sufficient, and irreplaceable by other publications. The first to be in charge of the magazine were Sheikh Muhammad Al-Ahmadi Al-Zawahiri and Sheikh Muhammad Al-Khidr Hussain.
