His Eminence Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI), made a phone call today, Tuesday, to the family of the student, Raheeq El-Sayed Gomaa, a third-year secondary school student, at Horin Preparatory and Secondary Institute for Girls, in the Menoufia Azhari region, who passed away today in a painful accident. His Eminence offered his sincere condolences and sympathy to the student’s family.

The mother of the student expressed her thanks to His Eminence the Grand Imam for his call and condolences, noting that the deceased Azhari student had memorized the Holy Quran as she was diligent in seeking knowledge. Her daughter had promised her that she would do her best to obtain the highest grade in Al-Azhar secondary school, wishing that the Grand Imam would contact them and reward them with a visit to al-Masjid al-Haram in recognition of their struggle and patience, during her studies and memorization of the Holy Quran.

His Eminence the Grand Imam ordered an umrah trip to be provided for the student’s parents, to console them in their loss and express his solidarity with the student’s family. He prayed to Allah Almighty to have mercy on the deceased student, to grant her the highest level of Paradise, and to grant her family and relatives patience and solace. “To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
