Al-Azhar’s Zakat and Charity House distributes 3,000 iftar meals under Imam’s supervision
Under the directives of His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zakat and Charity House, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, the House is providing 3,000 iftar meals for those fasting at Al-Azhar Mosque, including foreign students and expatriate Egyptians. We ask Allah Almighty to bring back the holy month with goodness, blessings and prosperity.
This initiative falls under the “Iftar Sa'em” and “It'am” programs, for which the House has allocated separate donation accounts in response to donors wishing to direct their charity to iftar meals for those fasting. This is in accordance with the saying of the Prophet (PBUH): “Whoever provides iftar for a fasting person will have the same reward as the fasting person, without diminishing their reward.” (Musnad Imam Ahmad)
Prof. Mohamed El-Duwini, the Undersecretary of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, stressed the keenness of His Eminence the Grand Imam to follow up the annual Iftar at Al-Azhar Mosque around the clock, and His Eminence’s directives to remove all obstacles and provide the best service to the mosque’s visitors. He stressed that witnessing the group Iftar at Al-Azhar Mosque is one of the scenes that pleases the heart and indicates the universality of Al-Azhar’s message, as students from more than 120 countries around the world gather at this Iftar, reciting the Holy Quran, share meals, and engage in discussions.
