His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, congratulated His Holiness Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria, Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church, during a phone call today, Friday, on Easter.

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar expressed his congratulations and best wishes to all Christian brothers. He stressed that these occasions are a good opportunity to renew the bonds of brotherhood, harmony, and love among the people of the nation, and to affirm the strength of the Egyptian national fabric.

The call also addressed the tragic situation in Gaza. The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and His Holiness Pope Tawadros II affirmed their rejection of the unprecedented Zionist aggression in the history of wars and conflicts that our brothers and sisters in Gaza are being subjected to. They called on Allah Almighty to grant victory to the Palestinians, lift this affliction off them, and preserve their homeland and land.
