The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar offers phone condolences to the family of Khaled Mohammad Shawky, stressing that the “nation's martyr” set the most wonderful example of sacrifice
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, made a phone call to the family of hero Khaled Mohamed Shawky, who sacrificed his life to rescue a burning car loaded with fuel from a gas station in 10th of Ramadan City in an attempt to prevent the spread of the fire to the fuel tanks inside the station and the surrounding residential areas.
His Eminence the Grand Imam expressed his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the hero’s family, stressing that their father, the “martyr of the nation,” set the finest example of sacrifice and provided a practical lesson in courage and self-sacrifice. His Eminence pointed out that these heroic models should be immortalized in the nation's memory, emphasizing that the doors of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif are always open to them. His Eminence also directed Al-Azhar leaders to communicate with the family and work to meet their needs as soon as possible.
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar prayed to Allah Almighty to have mercy on the "nation's martyr," to bestow His vast mercy and forgiveness upon him, to comfort the hearts of his family, and to grant them patience and solace. “Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we shall return.”
