Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI), Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb, received today, Thursday, at Al-Azhar HQ, Ambassador José Jesús Guillermo, Ambassador of Peru to Egypt.

 

His Eminence the Grand Imam confirmed Al-Azhar’s readiness to support the Muslim community in Peru, by allocating scholarships for the Muslim youth in Peru to enroll at Al-Azhar University, bringing in Peruvian imams to be trained at Al-Azhar Academy for Training Imams, Preachers, and Fatwa Researchers and establishing a center for teaching the Arabic language to help Peruvian Muslims in learning the language of the Holy Quran.

 

The Peruvian Ambassador, for his part, expressed his happiness for meeting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and his country’s appreciation for his efforts in spreading peace and enhancing the culture of brotherhood and dialogue between religions. He praised the “Peace Convoys” initiative launched by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif to spread peace in the East and the West and stressed his appreciation for the Grand Imam’s keenness to support Peruvian Muslims through proposals to allocate scholarships, imam training programs, and the Arabic Language teaching center.
